Ashraf Hanna

Ashraf Hanna is an Egyptian born Britsih artist. He initially studied art at El Minia College of Fine Art before gaining a BA Hons degree in Theatre Design from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in 1994.

He discovered clay in 1997 and embarked on a career as a ceramist exhibiting and internationally in a number of leading galleries and fairs, including Sofa in Chicago and COLLECT.

In 2009 Ashraf decided to take a break from making and attended a Masters degree in ceramics and glass at the Royal College of Art in London. A new body of work was conceived and successfully launched in a number of solo and group shows subsequent to graduation in 2011.

Ashraf was awarded a Major Creative Wales Award in 2013 in recognition of his creative achievements and to enable him to dedicate more time to developing the body of work begun at the RCA.

Current work is concerned with exploring form through a series of hand built vessels.
