Monica Fierro in The Portman Magazine

    Now that's a novel idea

....Monica's practice is inspired by embroidery, sewing, textiles and clothes-making. Her books reveal feminine characters, particularly from the illustrated English books of the 18th century.
Her heroines appear from the curled-up or folded cut-out pages, transforming into exquisite sculptures. Although many of the characters are tormented or dramatic, a sense of humour and mischief permeates the work.

Monica Fierro in La Tundra Magazine

    On Books

Monica Fierro's art lies in a skilfully handling of paper transforming her books with interventions in real worlds, many times much different from those originally created by their authors. Monica creates 3dimensional scenes through folding, cutting and inserting small figures and characters which magically come to life, evoking a feeling of innocence and frailty.
