A book speaks to me in different ways.

Jeremy May transforms reclaimed books into unique pieces of jewellery carefully cut from the pages of the book. Each piece is impossible to replicate, and is unique to the wearer.  The beauty of the jewels extends within the piece: text and images pass all the way though the object, only exposed at the surfaces – giving a tantalising glimpse of the book within.

Jeremy trawls through book markets on his travels to foreign countries; each book chosen has a history; it was bought, read, written on, sold on or given as a gift. In time, it was passed on to a street vendor, a second hand bookshop, or offered to Jeremy. Often geometric in shape, the form and colour of each piece is inspired by a specific quote from each respective book.

Jeremy May was born in Suffolk, UK. After having worked in landscape design for over 10 years, Jeremy created the first paper ring in September 2007. His literary jewels have been presented in London, Paris, Osaka, Athens, Hamburg and Saint Petersburg. He lives and works in London.

Jeremy has been showing with jaggedart since 2012.
