"Humans have made a significant impact on the earth’s ecosystem and Scientists believe that we should re-name the epoch we are living in to ‘Anthropocene' to take account of this change. My circular tapestry represents the Earth and the squashed uneven surface and vertical strips of woven materials represent the fissures of damage that we have inflicted on the planet. Each woven strip in a variety of materials (wool, cotton, horsehair, flax, nylon, plastic, internet cable, telephone cable, sisal, jute, nettle yarn, newspaper yarn) represents an area of man’s rapid advancement either through the processing of natural materials, harnessing the use of animals, technology, heavy industry or innovation."
