This is the first time that jaggedart exhibits at Collect, presenting a stunning stand with works by Ivana Brenner, Juliet and Jamie Gutch, Charlotte Hodes, Kazuhito Takadoi and Jude Tucker.
Charlotte Hodes’ vessels, with their female connotations, are used as a three dimensional canvas, around which images are juxtaposed, like her intricate paper cut outs, reminiscent of luscious tapestries or textiles.
Kazuhito Takadoi grows and hand picks grasses, leaves and twigs from his garden, sowing each blade through the paper or weaving bookbinding paper string into rich woods.
Juliet and Jamie Gutch’s mobiles are created from different undulating slivers of wood. The different elements of each sculpture are in perfect balance. They glance past each other, yet never touch.
Ivana Brenner’s solidified oil paint accumulates like molluscs or petals, creating intriguing installations of translucent shapes that extrude from corners, books or walls.
Time is halted - a moment preserved - in Jude Tucker's stone carvings. The transience of a seed or leaf becomes immutable in her delicate vessels or wall pieces. Using a variety of different stones, Jude's intricate works celebrate natural beauty and form.
